The DVRPC Freight Centers data file is based on an internal classification system for geographic areas with a high concentration of freight generating land uses. This data set has been developed through comprehensive local research on firm location and land uses. Currently the file contains three tiers: Mega, Major and Intermediate.

Data Dictionary

Column Type Label Description
objectid OID OBJECTID Internal feature number.
pff_id String pff_id a unique identifier for each freight center comprised of two letters and two numbers
name String name a location-based name for each freight center
type String type denotes the freight center’s assigned typology. Note: if type is equal to “Watchlist”, it means the area was included for analysis and monitoring purposes, but was not ultimately designated freight center
municipality String municipality a comma-separated list of municipalities that contain part of the freight center
county String county the county (or counties) in which the freight center is located
freight_jobs Integer freight_jobs the estimated number of freight jobs in the center
industrial_properties Integer industrial_properties the number of industrial properties in the center (as per CoStar)
square_footage Integer square_footage the total square footage of rentable business area in industrial properties within the center (as per CoStar)
highway_access String highway_access driving distance(s) to nearest limited access highway(s) (including name of highway
primary_truck_route_ids String primary_truck_route_ids IDs of route(s) on the primary truck network that serves the center
primary_truck_route_names String primary_truck_route_names name of route(s) on the primary truck network that serves the center
freight_rail_service String freight_rail_service freight rail provider(s) that serve the center
freight_rail_infrastructure String freight_rail_infrastructure rail lines that serve the center
acres Double acres the size of the freight center in acres
